II Cor 8:7 "Excel in Act of Grace & Aim at What's Honorable" (Sept 15)

Excel in this act of grace---
of giving yourself first to your God and
then, by the will of God, to whomever he sends your way.  I Cor 8:7

 Aim at what is honorable---
not only in the Lord’s sight
but also in the sight of man.  I Cor 8:

Today, I tried to do what was honorable in the sight of man.
It backfired on me.
Tomorrow, I will aim again and ask our Good God,
The God of the downcast,
to enable me to get back up again and excel in an act of Grace.

  1. The Message gives us this prayer from Hebrews 13:18:

"Pray for us. We have no doubts about what we're doing or why, but it's hard going and we need your prayers. All we care about is living well before God. Pray that we may be together soon. May God, who puts all things together, makes all things whole, Who made a lasting mark through the sacrifice of Jesus, the sacrifice of blood that sealed the eternal covenant, Who led Jesus, our Great Shepherd, up and alive from the dead, Now put you together, provide you with everything you need to please him, Make us into what gives him most pleasure, by means of the sacrifice of Jesus, the Messiah. All glory to Jesus forever and always! Oh, yes, yes, yes."

  2. "So here's what I think: The best thing you can do right now is to finish what you started last year and not let those good intentions grow stale. Your heart's been in the right place all along. You've got what it takes to finish it up, so go to it. " The Message 2 Cor 8

Just a word for me today from the readings in The Message. So many things started and left undone. There's enough Grace to finish. Thanks be to His Name.
