Mathew 14:12 The disciples came to the prison and took the lifeless headless body of John, whom Jesus loved, and buried the body only...and then they went and told Jesus. What a tender moment. I wonder what the disciples thought about what Jesus did. Jesus could have saved John from these wicked women who wanted his head on a platter. What did the women do with John's head? Throw it away? When Jesus heard from his disciples, he withdrew to a desolate place. Oh Father! I'm so weeping for whom? Myself?
The crowds closed in and Jesus had compassion on them and fed them. 5 Loaves and 2 Fish. During one of the most difficult moments of my life, a friend shared this story with me. Unless God shows up in our lives, there will be only 5 Loaves, 2 Fish. But when He arrives in our day, He stirs and shakes and sends bread & fish to feed 5,000 families. 5 Loaves and 2 Fish for you this moment. Matthew 14:17-18 Jesus is still saying: "Bring _________ (you fill in the blank with a name) them here to Me.
Thank you, Bev for your post this morning. I was focusing more on those sick, wicked women than the compassion of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThank you also for your obedience on here and for coming back every single day to serve us! I'm sorry to be so distracted and self-absorbed with my own life. I hope to have more time soon.

Matthew 14:9 "And the king was sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he commanded it to be given." I'm disgusted and convicted personally by this verse. Wondering how many times I've done this--pleasing people, knowing it isn't right, but going along not to look bad. Lord, cleanse my weak,looking-to-men-instead-of-You pride. Herrod is disdained, but how unlike is he from us? Perhaps just a matter of degree, perhaps not. He had a choice and failed. Lord, in the moment of choice, bring forth Your Light and compassion that we may serve You well and no other.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pass up commenting on the mercy and glory in the 5 loaves story, but y'all have given the story such life and written so touchingly from your hearts. Blessed Friday, everyone.
Oh, the strength of the grief that Christ felt when He heard of the death of His cousin John. He was so strongly moved that He went to a desolate place to grieve.I had never really seen that before. He, the Holy One needed to be alone...yet the crowd followed Him and He provided them with food for their bodies as well as their souls. He is truly there for us in every situation. I am still struck that He went to a desolate place when He heard of John's death..perhaps He was not grieving so much for John, but for the sin that took his life..for John was with the Father.
ReplyDeleteI too, Bev along with Angie want to thank you and bless you for your faithfulness to do this every day even with the storm waves crashing around you, you are obedient and faithful to your commitment.
Sadly, I get a little hurt that John was alone in his final moment.
ReplyDeleteThen I realize that Love was there with him. In fact, Love came down and rescued him in the most dramatic way. He was received into Glory, mission accomplished.
And he earned a martyr's crown.
