August 12 ... Jeremiah 1 - 3 "A Collision of Two Kingdoms"

"I make no promise to protect you from sufferig in this world.  I do promise the Power to believe in My Goodness when bad things happen, the power to hope with confidence that a Good Plan is unfolding when nothing visible supports that hope, and the Power to reveal the Goodness of My Love no matter how distraught or empty you feel, even to those who cotribute to your distress ad emptiness.  That is the abundance I promise until you arrive at My Party."  So what does that stir in me?  What do I need to "let go" of to trust His Goodess? Where am I not "all in."

Jeremiah 1:5   AM I STANDING UP TO SAY THE WORDS GOD HAS GIVEN ME?
God says:  "Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations—that's what I had in mind for you."  But I said, "Hold it, Master God! Look at me. I don't know anything. I'm only a boy!"  God told me, "Don't say, 'I'm only a boy.' I'll tell you where to go and you'll go there. I'll tell you what to say and you'll say it. Don't be afraid of a soul. I'll be right there, looking after you...Jeremiah 1:9 - I've put My Words in your mouth---hand delivered.  I'll make every Word I give you come true."  Jeremiah 1:17 - Stand up and say your piece.

Jeremiah 2:13  WHAT CISTERN HAVE I DUG TO MAKE MY LIFE WORK?
God's Decree. "My people have committed a compound sin: they've walked out on me, the fountain Of fresh flowing waters, and then dug cisterns— cisterns that leak, cisterns that are no better than sieves.

Jeremiah 3:25   WHEN DID I BECOME A REBEL?
"From the time we took our first steps, said our first words, we've been rebels, disobeying the voice of our God."

  1. Our God has a holy plan for us from the very beginning.

Jer. 1:5 Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you.

Our God is a hands-on God.

Jer. 1:9 God reached out, touched my mouth, and said, "Look! I've just put my words in your mouth—hand-delivered! See what I've done? I've given you a job to do.

God will show me exactly what to do. I just need to ready myself to be used.

Jer. 1:18-19 “But you—up on your feet and get dressed for work! Stand up and say your piece. Say exactly what I tell you to say. Don't pull your punches or I'll pull you out of the lineup.”

I've traded Glory for hollow, empty idols.

Jer. 2:9-11 But my people have traded my Glory for empty god-dreams and silly god-schemes.

I’ve abandoned pure Life Water for inadequate substitutes that don’t begin to satisfy.

Jer. 2:12-13 God's Decree. "My people have committed a compound sin: they've walked out on me, the fountain Of fresh flowing waters, and then dug cisterns— cisterns that leak, cisterns that are no better than sieves.

Jer. 2:17 And why do you think all this has happened? Isn't it because you walked out on your God just as he was beginning to lead you in the right way?

An aside of wisdom for today. What addiction to busyness do I have?

Jer. 2:25 Slow down. Take a deep breath. What's the hurry? Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway? But you say, 'I can't help it. I'm addicted to alien gods. I can't quit.

Our God waits for our return. He alone cures our aimless pursuits.

Jer. 3:15 God’s Decree. "Come back, wandering children!"

Jer. 3:22-24 "Come back, wandering children! I can heal your wanderlust!"

How many times do I have to fall away before I quit rebelling and realize everything else is a cheap lie and You are my only and purest Salvation?

Jer. 3:25 "We're here! We've come back to you. You're our own true God! All that popular religion was a cheap lie, duped crowds buying up the latest in gods. We're back! Back to our true God, the salvation of Israel…From the time we took our first steps, said our first words, we've been rebels, disobeying the voice of our God."

  3. My husband has a real difficult meeting tomorrow. He really needs for God to put words in his mouth. Please pray. Just last night we were experiencing a "See what I've done" moment. Life is never dull. The enemy never lets up. Our God reigns!

    Thank you so much.

  4. Jeremiah 2

"I brought you to a garden land
where you could eat lush fruit. But you barged in and polluted my land,
trashed and defiled my dear land. The priests never thought to ask, 'Where's God?'
The religion experts knew nothing of me."

    A garden land.
    Not a waste land.
    Not a desert.

    A garden land.

The religion experts knew nothing of me.

When are we most likely to forget our good God?

Is it during our desert times or our garden times?

Father, deliver us from the Practice of Religion and set our hearts on fire for loving You with abandon.

Fresh love twinkling in our eyes.

    Focused only on You.

A catch in our breath when we glimpse You walking beside us.

A tear in our eye when we miss You.

A deep desire to study You. To recognize Your mood. To sense Your playfulness as well as Your deep concerns.

Help us to love You through our actions here on our tiny planet.
Loving You Alone as our God.
    Loving others as ourselves.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Make us faithful. Plant True Love in our hearts. Faithful and True. That's what You are towards us. Let that be our calling, too, towards You.

  5. FG, I feel for your husband.
I had a difficult meeting this morning and had a migraine at the start. I hardly ever have migraines.

Turbulent times. These are turbulent times.

Father, I pray for FG's dear husband. I pray that he would have understanding and clarity as he goes through this meeting. Let Your Favor rest on him and the results of this meeting. Let him be at peace as he allows You to work through Him to accomplish Your results. We thank You for all the ways You work in our lives and we never even notice. Tomorrow, I pray that this husband would be sure that You have been with him and that You have been the strength and wisdom in his work. In Jesus Name. Amen.

  7. Oooh FG...I am holding your request for your husband close to my heart and will certainly pray for him. Oooh. Praying he will humble himself under God's mighty Hand. Tomorrow morning when you guys awaken, know that I am praying Isaiah 30:2 and 6 for you both: That our LORD will be gracious to your husband and what tomorrow holds. That HE would be your husband's strength. That HE would be your husband's arm when he walks into the meeting. All because you wait for Him and Him alone. And HE walks with you. Bless you! Will be praying...
