Pay attention to what God says. Exodus 23:13. "Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land." Exodus 23:30. We live in an instant celebrity society. We want things to go well, smoothly, on time, and with a name. Little by little, God works every day in our lives. Driving out anything that detaches us from Him. Either we are driven to repentance or rebellion.
Beautiful Promises given to these wanderers. Are we the same? Wandering through. Going through 42 stations to get to the one place they need to be. And a very Gracious God promises in Exodus 23:20---"Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared." And I wonder, this very day, if there is an angel going before each of us. There is a God Who has prepared our way. And He will get us there. In the midst of laws and obligations, it is our immense privilege to serve the God Who has laid out our lives before all time. Everything. Little by Little. May we find that Little today.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
God, You are moving in our ives. You are acting, plotting, and drawing us up. May we see with fresh eyes of grace this day what You have for us.
PHOTO: Sitting. Swinging. Thinking humble about angels guarding me. Thinking hard about life unfolding on me. Thinking happy that it is "little by little" and I'm going to be okay.
God reveals which feasts the Hebrews are to celebrate, laws pertaining to social justice, and how He will make the Promised Land theirs.
ReplyDeleteOne verse that stood out to me (not necessarily in context, but a sticking point to me due to a conversation with a friend who calls President Obama names) was: You , shall not revile God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
Ladies not to bring up politics, but if you find yourself cursing our politicians - please pray for them instead.
Our Pastor reminds us all of the time to pray for the President, that he does. His reminders are being used by God to keep me focused on the main thing...God,who is in control and not the President. Which leads me to the thought that God put him in to the White House. He is the One who sets Kings up and takes them down. He is using the President in ways we do not see and maybe in ways that we do see. You are so right, we need to pray for him, his heart is in The Kings hands and He is in charge no matter what it appears. Thanks for the reminder today.
DeleteGood idea, Annette! xoxo
DeleteJust a thought.....IF He chose to drive out the yuck out of our lives in one big swoop, would we learn as much or be as grateful as we are when it dawns on us that He drives the yuck out little by little and we grow in His grace and knowledge day by day, little by little. It just struck me that is what I have to accept He is doing in the lives of my adult children and their children. He changes me little by little and He is doing it in them, too.....So why on earth do I want to see monumental changes overnight in myself and especially them? His mercies are new every single morning and His grace is always much more than sufficient for the day and it's troubles.
ReplyDeleteDriving the enemy out little by little was a new concept for me years ago when this was the verse the Lod gave my friend as she battled cancer. She'd been told there were still cancer cells left in her body after chemo, radiation and surgery and it was scaring her the thought of it still being there. And God showed her this verse to rest her mind and she lived to see her babies grow up.
ReplyDeleteGod is mightily at work handling the details of our lives. I see what some would call tiny miracles each day, but I know what it took to come this far and it floods my heart with a joy for things I thought impossible that turned out easy for God to orchestrate down to the smallest detail.
Oh to remember His power and not ever give up, that is my prayer and the desire of my heart.
