October 18 "Move Me Forward" Mark 8:24

4,000 people did not want to leave the presence of Christ and His teaching.  They stayed for three days.  Starving.  Staying.  So taken with the Goodness of God.  No bakery could handle 4,000+ customers.  Christ could.  "I do believe.  Help my unbelief."  Mark 9:24.  And help me never to leave Your Presence, O God.

One miracle after another.  Their lives.  Our lives.  How can we not stay?  Why do we not cry out if we have little insight from our incidents?

Jesus heals the blind man in an unconventional way.  Spit.  “Do you see anything?”  And the blind man replies:  “I see men, for I see them like trees, walking around.” Mark 8:24.  Christ could have completely healed him the first time.  What's the goal here?  Holiness.  Where in my life do I see men like trees walking around?  Just like Christ moved the blind man forward, move me, O God.  Move me forward!

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 143:10
"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God.
May your Good Spirit lead me on level ground."
Move Me Forward, O God.

  1. Exploring what "And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me" means today...

A cross means suffering. A cross means death. Death to self. Death to anything other. A death that brings life. Jesus said we must take up OUR cross. It looks different for each one of us.

What does my cross look like? Where must I die to self this day? Each time something rises up within me and cries "unfair" or "how dare they do that to me?" or "ouch" I need to examine if there is pride or self-entitlement that needs to die, or humility is at stake.

Thank you, Lord for enduring the cross, for my sake, and for eternal life that You extend to us because of Your Work that breathtakingly beautiful Good Friday on the cross.

"For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
