~ Beauty & Betrayal ~
What a beautiful kindness in Matthew 26:7--- "A woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. But the disciples were indignant when they saw this, and said, “Why this waste? For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” Waste! Do we ever waste anything on our LORD? No time wasted. No prayers wasted. No money wasted.
A custom of that day---the highest measure of kindness for that society. Followed by the lowest measure of kindness from a friend---the betrayal of Jesus by Judas. What a comparison in just a few hours. And then another trusted friend, Peter, betrays his LORD three times. Matthew 26:34. We are not betrayed by strangers; we are betrayed by our friends. Peter even cursed and swore that Jesus was not his friend. Apart from the Holy Spirit of God, we are all base betrayers.
What was Jesus' reply back to them? Watchful Words: "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Matthew 26:41. He knows!
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
"Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord, keep watch over the door of my lips! Incline not my heart to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity." Psalm 141:3-4
It took 3 different tries to post this one today. Started trying last night. Finally got it on just now and look....it's all white. Never used to have these problems with Blogger until I started using a MacBookPro. They aren't friends.
ReplyDeleteAnnette, I undid the formatting. Several Times. What am I doing wrong here?
ReplyDeleteOkay, Annette. I could undo formatting but couldn't undo paragraph. I'll just leave it flush left. Thanks. Bev
DeleteWe see the gamut of human actions in today's reading. A woman and her expensive perfume in an alabaster container, Peter declaring emphatically he would die rather than deny Christ, and Judas who betrayed Jesus.
ReplyDeleteI want to be be the woman who pours out all I have for the Lord Jesus Christ.
I tried to help on this but had no luck. Sorry you're having so much trouble. Thanks for all your hard work here.
