September 14 "A Tammuz in my Heart" Ezekiel 48:35

What do I really mourn?
Ezekiel 48:35 ~ The name of the city from that day shall be, ‘The Lord is there.’”  How beautiful is that!  Oh to live knowing that God is here with me every moment of my day.  Oh to value God as my Supreme Treasure.  "When you value anything above Me, when self-interest rules your life, you feel only your desires for what is available in this world:  good health, warm relationships, fulfilling work---and you assume it is My job and delight to satisfy those desires.  There is a Tammuz in your heart.  And you mourn his death ...
Maybe you mourn the loss of your relationships, the distance loved ones place on you.
Or you mourn the loss of ministry to affirm you in this life.
Or you mourn the loss of those you love being "there" for you.
And you mourn all of the above more than you mourn distance from God.  66LL

God is saying:  I am your God.  God is here for you, waiting, wanting you more.

  1. Whatever our Tammuz--there is one, or many...and they are idols that stand between God and our fullly devoted hearts. I've had my feelings hurt lately over something I think God should address, and then I realize He is not Lord over that, if I still have a say. I have people, relationships especially that I have to keep in check not to put before God. The beautiful thing is He knows we can't do this in and of ourselves so He helps us let go. Sometimes, it's disappointments or offenses that need forgiving. Sometimes, it's seasons that change. I do mourn things here more than I mourn my distance from the Lord. And it is in this moment of conviction that I know,

He is Lord of this, too.
