Find Rest, O My Soul.
Isaiah 42:3 "A bruised reed He will not break, and a dimly burning wick, He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice." This prophecy is about the Coming Christ. This Son of God is tender toward those who are suffering, the bruised and the broken; the dimly burning and the delicate. He knows our frame. He will never allow more suffering than for our good. Whatever comes our way, we have a Savior who will bear us up, bring us up, and give birth to Something New. Isa 42:9; 43:1-4.PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 116 ~ "I found trouble and sorrow." I love You LORD because You heard my voice and You answered me. Maybe not as I thought. Things certainly have not ended up like I thought they would. But, I trust in the midst. And I love You so. Please help those places in my heart that are not at rest. Return to Rest, o my soul!
These verses minister again today so often to my heart--some of my favorite, when I think I can't, He tells me He can and we are not alone. He calls us by name. He knows our frame. Wherever we are, He is

With a single word, He declares new things.
Sing to the Lord a new song.
He has made all things new.
He is the Lord our God, the Holy One of Israel--
Our Savior every single day and Once magnificently!
And who cannot take refuge in these words of comfort:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are Mine!
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
Nor will the flame burn you.
Let's sing this new song to Him Who is worthy of all our praise!
I have found if you personalize the verse and put your name in there...I have redeemed you, Mary Lou, Annette, I have called you by name, you are Mine! and so forth it will bring you tons of comfort and rest and assurance. He gave me those verses a few years back for a situation.. Didn't really see how they applied but did accept them and I had His peace! They are applying even more now on almost a daily basis. He is the Only God worth praising, the Only One who deserves our praise. May we all find rest in these words today and every day. You have such a way with words, Annette. You and Bev always bless me and I see more in the scriptures from what you both share.
DeleteThank you, Mary Lou! Your heart blesses me so much as you share here. You are so right--He is the Only One who deserves our praise, our focus!
