July 29 "Lofty Exalted, Only One" Isaiah 6:3

The Whole Earth is Full of His Glory
"In the year of King Uzziah's death," Isaiah saw a vision of the Lord sitting on a throne.  The climate surrounding the event is seminal---a new beginning for Isaiah.  The first five chapters deal with Isaiah's sins of pride.  No more.  Now.  Lofty and Exalted is his God, not himself.  This passageway spoke to Isaiah.  They had trusted in this King of Judah---the only one they have known.  And his reign ended abruptly.  In the house of mourning, one examines deeply what is going on.  May we see what we are doing in the events of our own lives. Uzziah had spent most of his 52 years walking with God but he didn't finish his life well.  He ended in pride and it cost him his life.  And it shook Isaiah to the core, in a very good way.

Isaiah 6:3
 "Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD of Hosts."
The foundations trembled at the voice of Him who called out.

And Isaiah's response:
"Woe is me, for I am ruined!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
and I live among a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isaiah 6:5

Woe is me! . . .
For my eyes have seen the King.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 32:5 Father, help me in these circumstances in which I sit to see you High and Mighty.  "Then, I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not hide my iniquity."  May we not hide but confess to the You, the Only One who matters in these thoughts we face.  May we not miss You.

  1. As Isaiah pours out the Lord's prophetic message to His people as well as the Samarians and Syrians. The words are alive and mean so much to me today. Do I revere Him always, do I confess all?
