The LORD, our God, is a Sun and a Shield
Dear God, Psalm 80:2 - Stir up Your power
And come to save us!
O God, restore us
And cause Your face to shine upon us, [c]and we will be saved
God, You made us objects of contention with our neighbors. It happened to me this very day.
You've made us drink tears in large measure
Fed us with the bread of tears. Psalm 80:5
Everyone wants You
To be more like You.
Yet, day in/day out I hear Your children begging for
reversal of their problems.
Don't let this cancer happen again!
Don't let my boy go off the deep end.
And the list goes on.
When we will ever be a people who will listen to God.
Not a stubborn people who walk in their own devices.
A people who will deal with our own waywardness.
A people who will care more about our souls than our cancer.
A people who will care more about our souls than our food.
A people who will care more about our souls than our money.
A people who will praise in the deepest fog.
Thank you for Psalm 81:10
You are our God.
You brought us up and out.
"Open your mouth wide and I will fill it." Psalm 81:10 - T.h.i.s. verse here, I have thought about for 38 years. I remember the spot where I stood when a friend shared it with me.
PRAYER FROM PSALM
God, You are a Sun and Shield.
You do give Grace and Glory.
Help me to believe in places where I have not that You will not withhold any good thing from me.
He is my Sun & Shield. He is the Most High God, yet at times I treat Him very casually and have even gone so far to offer Him advice on how to take care of a situation. Forgive me Lord.
ReplyDeleteEven though we pass through the valley of Baca filled with tears, an "early rain" of blessing is promised to go from strength to strength in the Lord. An early rain is a welcome thought and a metaphor we can identify well with at the ranch. It's such a sweet promise, my eyes fell to it immediately as I read this morning. A sweet rain of consolation follows our tears as He renews us from strength to strength.
ReplyDeleteFor the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold [aq]from those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
How blessed is the man who trusts in You!
God adds grace upon grace and, ultimately, glory to the one who trusts in Him.
