Still waters.
Like glass.
No ripples there.
How can I learn to live still?
Don't explain life away.
Trust God in this current circumstance,
a Good God Who is working, moving, silently.
"What help came in to him in Hebron,'
to make him king over all Israel, seven years later."
I Chron 12:23.
David waited patiently to become king.
He did not push for what was not his.
And when the time came, what help was there.
God does not leave us helpless.
But sends Another Helper.
A Counselor.
May we wait on a Mighty Presence.
An always Available Help in Present Times.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
May we live still and wait patiently for You, O God, to act in our behalf.
OVERVIEW: I Chronicles 12-

Even though my circumstances at the moment are not bad or troublesome in any sense. I still find that I am needing to be still before God and just rest in the fact that He is the great I AM. My prayer today echoes the one that Bev wrote....May I live still and patiently for God to act in my behalf., even in the "good" times and circumstances. Praying for each one of us today that we look to Him and rest in His unchanging grace.
ReplyDeleteAmen Mary Lou.
ReplyDeleteDavid sought the Lord and did as the Lord commanded. How many times have I sought the Lord but not waited for His answer.
All of you make such good sense. It's the being still and listening part that I so often lack. I say my prayers, jump up, and go ninety miles an hour most days. My prayer often is close doors and point the way, never imagining the plan might be to simply stop for long enough to assess.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in this season of life, I often have an opportunity to be still but simply don't like it that much. Part of that problem lies in how I view "success" in my days. If I didn't get something done, does that mean that it was a waste? I guess that all depends on how available I make myself to God to do His transforming work. Being still and being patient are valid and crucial operation modes for spiritual growth.
I echo your prayers for rest, for patience, for basking in His grace! Blessed Lord's Day to all.
