This is the city where I live, Austin
All our days are made up of brief moments.
May they be brief moments of grace shown by God.
God has appointed our times and places.
He is giving us a peg in His Holy Place opening eyes.
Ezra 9:8-9 But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving. For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us!!! I think we all live in far more bondage than we realize. What stirs within in the city where you live? C.S. Lewis said it: "We are far too easily pleased."
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 73:19
Dear God, We can be swept away by terrors in a moment. We can be filled with grace in that same one. Come Lord Jesus in our brief moments of this life You have appointed. Show us this day in the city where we live, a brief moment of grace.
OVERVIEW: Ezra 8-10
Good morning, Pearls. Our Pearl friend Angie is having shoulder surgery this morning and could use our prayers for healing and comfort. Thank you!
ReplyDeletePraying for her as she recovers. May she feel His healing hands and the comfort that only He can bring.
DeleteWe know not the vast amount of grace-filled moments that flood our lives. Mostly, we miss them. But every now and then, He gives us eyes to see these brief brushes with the Holy. Even this morning before I wrote this sentence, He has been actively blessing my life to point heavenward. Even when I least feel it, He is there. No, I don't deserve it, but because of Grace, because of His Son, because of His love, He infuses this life with forgiveness, with provision, with His very Presence.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you Bev, for making this lesson so personal this morning! Thanks for laughing at a situation that could have been heartbreaking. I love you bunches!
In today's reading, we grasp the shame and humiliation felt by Ezra and most of the Israelites. Many men knew it was right to separate themselves from their foreign wives and children. The heartache we avoid when we live according to God's ways. I can only imagine the pain the men, women, and children felt.
ReplyDelete@ Annette, praying for Angie.
Oh Dear Annette, It is quite all right. Somehow, I thought it was hilarious that one more thing fell off the radar. I so needed to laugh! I deeply appreciate all you do to serve all of us!
ReplyDeleteAnd now, Angie, let's serve her in prayer! Praying for her this evening! May she know God's Presence!
Dearest Pearls,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prayers. I have been a little out of it, but just clicked on here and noticed how sweet you all were to pray for me when I didn't even know! I miss you all and really need to get back in the Word with you all. With much love and appreciation, Angie xoxo
