May 18 "Passover" II Chronicles 31:20

I

It's a Gorgeous Feeling to take the Lord's Supper with family, with friends.
But what do we do with the Host that invades our lives?

II Chronicles 31 gives an account as to what they did after the Passover. You know, Communion is a Beautiful Thing, but it is how we flesh out the Christian life after we walk out of the door of church that matters. "The comfort of communion with God should kindle in us a holy zeal and indignation against sin, against every thing that is offensive to God." M. Henry

The real question is "does God accept my offering?" II Chronicles 31:20-21 says: Thus Hezekiah did what was good, right and true before the Lord his God. Every work which he began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart ... ." What is right in terms of morality; what is true in terms of doctrine. What is present in our heart? This moment counts. Not just Communion. Not just a worship service. No greater opportunity than this Present Moment to present to God.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS

Psalm 73:28

But as for me, the Nearness of God is my good.

I will tell of what God has done for me.

Oh, to live as though He is near!

OVERVIEW: II Chronicles 28-31

  1. Hezekiah's prayer: “May the good Lord pardon everyone who prepares his heart to seek God, the Lord God of his fathers, though not according to the purification rules of the sanctuary.”

Over the years, they had forgotten their God, but they returned and celebrated with a Passover to beat all Passovers but One. God heard their hearts and forgave the timing. Hezekiah extended the feast and joy filled their hearts. It felt good to return, to fellowship in Him, to remember.

I was talking with Mike today about the ebb and flow of our heart and the sweet cycle of it. At times, it feels like fire that burns within, and others, more like going through the motions. To serve God with our whole heart as Hezekiah did is doable. We must be careful as to what divides our hearts and know that faith is what sustains the in-between times of mountain-top experiences and lowest valleys.
