David sends a faithful warrior to this place, his death.
The man who refused to go home to his wife,
camped on David's doorstep to protect his kingdom.
What on earth came from David's deep center?
2 Samuel 9:1 ... Then ...
Goodness stirs within David to do something for the House of Saul for Jonathan's sake.
2 Samuel 11:1 ... Then it happened ...
When kings go out to war ---
Privileged David stays home --- wonder why.
David was in the wrong place at the time he saw Bathsheba indiscreetly.
And she now carries his child.
So, he sends her faithful king's servant to the front lines.
The fiercest of battles.
Take. him. out.
Chilling.
The David who just wrote the beautiful prayer to Divine Providence.
The David who just hid in caves protected by Divine Providence.
The David who waited for Divine Providence to crown him.
What happens to us to get our attention?
Those Nathan moments when this Word of God reads our hearts.
This. David.
He is a man after God's heart. And we watch this story.
There is a cry for God's holiness arising from his deepest center.
It will be louder than the cries of shame and fear and privilege.

Annette and Holly, what am I doing wrong on this new computer of mine that it keeps doing this? A - can you change the formatting? Thanks.

ReplyDeleteIn today's passage we see a man come full circle. He seeks the Lord with all his heart. He falls into sin. And then Nathan gives him a hard word, not some feel good message: Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight?
ReplyDeleteI pray when I sin, if I do not repent immediately, I receive and hear a hard word if I need it.
