There is a traitor within.
Seeking to peek through.
Crucify the flesh, don't sin.
Grace is ours on all that we do.
The Queen came to glean . . . wisdom from one of the wisest, King Solomon.
Solomon did impress the Queen of Sheba, more than just the grandiose prosperity way.
But, we know the end of this story, and where Solomon was headed.
So, we glean this---go to God for your wisdom and He will deliver.
Solomon - so wise? What happened to him?
The depravity of man is rampant, scandalous, very near all of us.
Solomon was his own worst enemy. A traitor within.
He gave "in" to his wives as it says in I Kings 11:3.
We must all be sober as we read this horror story of what happened to the very Wise King Solomon.
Be more concerned with the gaining of spiritual blessings than the gaining of earthly things.
If we are truly blessed spiritually, the physical things will mean less, won't they?
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
O God, when I read this horrific story of Solomon, I pray:
Re-direct, guide, keep, order, establish my footsteps in Your Word,
And do not let any sin have dominion over me.
There's a traitor loose within but he won't win.
Psalm 119:133

OVERVIEW: I Kings 10-11

Diluted by his pursuit of other gods, polluted by his diversions of wives, concubines, other religions, other idols...Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, ends his life in shame.
ReplyDeleteWhat keeps me from serving the Lord with my whole heart? Diluted allegiance is no allegiance to God at all.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13)
That statement about diluted allegiance, brings to mind the thinking that a divided heart is not a steadfast heart and is not one focused on Him at all. Just as a double minded man is unstable in ALL of his ways. Solomon KNEW what was right and yet he still chose to do what his flesh wanted him to do. How many times do I do that?? How I pray for an undivided heart and to be stable in my thinking. May we each one seek after Him, for He will be found IF we seek and search for Him. He desires to be found.
DeleteSolomon knew the truth, he had seen Jehovah and yet he strayed. God is faithful and kept His covenant with David because He is ever faithful though we are not.
ReplyDeleteShow us Lord where we are divided, where we try to serve You and the world at the same time. Show us wrong ideas, thoughts, doctrines we have about You which may cause us to stumble because we become double minded over it. In Jesus' Name I pray.
Amen...
