Royal Ruin ... Not Much Left
From the Wretchedness in David's Life to ...
A Brand New Chapter Every Day of a Glorious Ruin
David fainted but he didn't flee from his battle with the Philistines. He was a noble man with flaws just like you and me. But this time, he didn't run away from what was in front of him. II Samuel 21:15. "Man's greatness and wretchedness are so evident that the true religion must necessarily teach us that there is in man some great principle of greatness and some great principle of wretchedness." Paschal. Paschal's take allowed for both wretchedness and glory in the truth and rationality of Christianity. "Rumors of glory" (Cockburn) are in all of us. What stirs deep within our center? Fierce words like in II Samuel 19:43? Soft answers like in Proverbs 15:1? We are all defaced in some way but never erased. Within our origin is Divine Glory. May we deal with this present moment and allow God to make us into the men and women He has called us to be. For His Name's Sake.PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 138:6 - Oh God, whether we are lowly or lofty, you look kindly on us. Would you do so this day, no matter where we are. My prayer is the words of David from Psalm 18: You have also given us the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds each one of us; And Your gentleness
will make us great. Thank you so.
OVERVIEW: II Samuel 19-21

"Good as dead" yet restored to the King's Table, humble Mephibosheth loves mighty King David for looking on the lowly, one remaining descendant of Saul.
ReplyDeleteWe are Mephibosheth. We are cast out and yet redeemed to sit at the Table of the King of Kings. What a banquet that will be when we are restored fully, no longer lame, and are given a seat at that glorious table of the Lord Himself.
Crippled one, look to your King who takes compassion on you this day and keeps his promises to you. He will provide and restore you to perfection. One. Glorious. Day!
Love what you said about Mephibosheth.
ReplyDeleteI had never seen or read before that God uses strangers or people who are not in our immediate family. I remember that time when I learned that I had cancer and I knew not what to do---you sent me a care package of a loaded iPod and a little jar of Vitamin D. God encouraged me so much through that package at a time when I felt good as dead. There have been so many more ways you have encouraged me and I know it is a beautiful God that stirs inside of you and pours out. Thank you, my friend. Bev
Isn't He the most amazing God that would bring us together as friends. We try to listen to His small voice, and when we do, it is right on ministering to another. I am so thankful for you, for our sweet bond of friendship and sharing seasons of life together. I had totally forgotten about that small gift, yet God knew what you needed at that moment and used me. How cool is that! I am honored to be your friend. Love, A
