They insisted on worshipping how they wanted to.
O LORD, may we never spurn your Word.
The ground split open and they fell all the way down to Hades. I mean, have we ever seen anything like it? "They sinned at the cost of their lives." Number 16:38. And the very next day, the Israelites forgot the horror they witnessed as they cried against Moses and Aaron accusing them of causing the deaths of the Lord's people. Preposterous! Did the Israelites really think these men held some degree of holiness? Do we think the same this day? There will be One Day when God will say: I never knew you! Oh my. May we do all we know to find the Truth of the Gospel. How did Moses and Aaron reach so deep to trust so well in the midst of fickle followers. Give us courage, O God, to face those who mock.
PRAYER FROM THE PSALMS
Psalm 119:169 Our cry comes before you. May we never stop crying over our darkness. Give us understanding according to your Word, O LORD, the only True God.

Time and again, the Israelites saw God's power, and they saw whom He had put in charge, the order of it all, and yet they rose up against it. God is the same today. Do we rise up against His Plan? Heaven help us. We are a perverse and wicked people. And our murmurings do not go unnoticed.
ReplyDeleteToday, we welcome Benjamin Andrew into this world. He will be born in less than an hour, and I will become a grandmother again. We are so excited. Your prayers for him and for his parents, Greg and Laura especially (She's having a C-section) are very appreciated.
How exciting. Benjamin Andrew must be here by now, joining big sister Bella. Will be praying for the new little family. Congratulations to all.
DeleteA fresh new face and breath of God. I cannot fathom seeing my children's children. You will this very morn. Tears stream. May your joy be full. May the One Who creates this life into existence this day be all over you! Congratulations!
DeletePrayers for all. Congratulations Annette!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading this passage around the age of 12 or so and wondering why Korah and his cohorts challenged Moses and then why did more people rise up against God. I could not understand their thinking. Years later and of course this morning, my heart was pierced because each time I sin I am out of His will and not living out His plan.
Show us the broken places in our souls Lord. We want to confess and repent of our sin. Oh Lord, may our words and actions as well as our silence and inaction be according to Your will for us this day.
I echo your prayer, Annette. We do so need to see the broken places in our souls. I shudder at the thought that He could/might say to me..."depart from Me, for I never knew you". May we each one finish well, we have started well, may we finish well.
DeleteMy prayer for today is Psalm 119:69. I want to know Him and I want to know what my sins are, so that I may confess and repent and turn from them. How I do not want to be like the ones that followed Moses and any other leader in the Bible, and ignore what God is doing around me and in me and just think about my comfort and today and not consider eternity. They saw Him act with their own eyes in great and mighty ways, yet,...they still did not believe. We think that we might have NOT acted like them IF we had see the Red Sea part or the ground open up and swallow a lot of people and then close back up over them. ONLY God of the universe could have done those things, YET the people still rebelled. May it not be said of us, as it was of them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Annette! What an exciting day for your family!
