What you say goes, God...By your words I can see where I'm going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. Everything's falling apart on me, God; put me together again with your Word...You are my place of quiet retreat; I wait for your Word to renew me...Stick with me and I'll be all right; I'll give total allegiance to your definitions of life. Your mercies, God, run into the billions; following your guidelines, revive me...Put your hand out and steady me since I've chosen to live by your counsel. So what does my life look like to give total allegiance to God's Definition of Life....what is life to me this day? Is that what's life to God?
I love it when you show yourself!... Use your decrees to put iron in my soul. And should I wander off like a lost sheep—seek me! I'll recognize the sound of your voice. Two metaphors here: "iron in my soul" is a beautiful prayer on my lips. Oh, God, have mercy. Do I recognize Your Voice this very day?
Amazing how these words were written thousands of years ago yet it's as though this very evening, God wrote them and sent them to me: God, put me together again with your Word.
I inherited your book on living; it's mine forever— what a gift! And how happy it makes me!
ReplyDeleteBecause God preserved His Word, we have this instruction book to navigate life. It is relevant, alive, and life altering, full of Truth, full of Christ Himself. What a gift, indeed.
You're my place of quiet retreat; I wait for your Word to renew me.
When I have a day like today that is full of catch up work, errands, calls, I have a sweet place to take quiet retreat and receive renewal in Christ as The Word.
Most of the time, I really like the fresh take on old verses of the Message. I hardly recognize the verses in this familiar psalm, though. Sometimes, I really like that and other times, I would rather read my old NASB. This is one of those times I prefer the comfort of the familiarity. How are y'all doing with The Message?

Bev, Thank you for this post. Wow, it speaks to me Loud and clear. This year my body seems to be falling apart and with God's grace and mercy He is rebuilding me. Using scripture meditation and memory is sustaining me when I find myself in a place I do not care for. His WORD through various translations gives me the Iron I need and the patience to see through His grace healing in me.
This blog is such a precious stop for me in my growth to KNOW HIM like I have never known before. Your comments challenge me and also bring healing to me. Praise God for HIS Word and the saints He places in my pathway that I may KNOW HIM more and the POWER of His Resurrection.
May my Precious Pearls and Siestas of Choice experience HIS LOVE today as never before.

ReplyDeleteAnnette, I seem to have picked up what you have been experiencing. when I hit publish it posted three times. I was allowed to delete one but it kept two of them that I don't know how to delete. Sorry for taking up so much space.
ReplyDeletePrecious String of Pearls, a sad song of this double post issue I must sing today. Is this part of Plan A for me? Sylvia
I am reading The Message but miss my NIV especially in the psalms where I feel so deeply and connect. My life is a little more like the psalms of lament...I keep wanting to pick up my NIV but will read it through just this once in The Message. But I love my NIV. How many ways can I say that?
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of wedding central over here.
* Locked out of my car cause my 18-year-old son thought he had to help mom and hold my keys so I wouldn't lose them----except he left with them in his pocket. Stranded in pouring rain. Help me, God! Love that boy!
* Errand Day all day today. I'm exhausted and it's midnight...and still going.
* Blair is doing her own flowers---they arrived today. Dozens of orchids. Dozens of Hydrangeas. Dozens of Roses. Dozens of Daisies. Gorgeous and overwhelming to me. 15 table centerpieces. Wedding party bouquets.
* Rehearsal and Two Dinners are manana. Can't wait!
* God is turning the tide for me this week. I had one major meltdown today when a friend canceled which I understood but I just wanted to share the moment. And some of my family can't make it cause of my brother-in-law's open heart surgery. Sad for us. It's a small wedding so they will be missed.
* Thrilled beyond words to have all four of my children together in one place enjoying each other. Barrett got back safely from Beijing, slightly delayed.
* Delighted to be at a shower tonight with all bridesmaids and close girlfriends and watching their laughter and love.
* Pouring rain over here in Dallas so out outside wedding may be plan B.
* YES and YES and YES...God is turning the tide for me this week to find Him in ways I never expected as I "let go" of my girl and my desires for His.
