Psalm 119: 41 - 45
Let your Love, God, shape my life.
Oh, I'll guard with my life what you've revealed to me,
guard it now, guard it ever;
And I'll stride freely through wide open spaces
as I look for Your Truth and Your Wisdom.
So grateful this day that your Truth and Wisdom does not depend on my performance. Never dependent on how strong I am. Your pleasure isn't in the strength of our legs or the weapons of our armies. May we not live in the past of how good it was. May we not live in the future of how good it might be. The enemy of my soul invites me to be content in the past or future. Catch me, dear God, when I am not living in the present. I've never seen my face before. May my world, my circumstances, reflect what is going on---on my face and in my heart. May we live only in the present and deal with the fray of our heart.
How I love the last verse of today's reading.
Psalm 119:88
Revive me O God according to your Word and I will obey you. Revive us all, O God!
Well, we're halfway through the Bible with this Psalm. Halfway through an amazing, revealing year, walking with sisters who have set their compass on living this thing out, taking instruction from His Word, and expecting heart change. "Let your Love, God, shape our lives."
ReplyDeleteI love that last verse, too, Bev, as we hit the slothful malaise of hot, long days. It's summer--revive us again, Lord.
Love you all.
Psalm 119:15a
ReplyDelete"I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you,"
Ponder - to think or consider especially quietly, soberly, and deeply.
Morsel - a small piece of food.
Wisdom - a wise attitude, belief or course of action.
I want to ponder something tonight.
I've always loved the psalms. Always. Next to the beauty of Song of Songs, and the spectacular book of Revelation...I've never read a more beautiful piece of literature than the Psalms.
Why are they so worthy of "pondering?" Savoring every small bite of soul-food?
I use to think it was because they were so human...the emotions described by the authors of these psalms.
But now I see that what's really expressed through these words is an intimate relationship with the Father.
It is the intimacy factor that appeals to me. Christianity is all about relationship with Christ. Pondering is something you do when you want to understand more deeply. You study something. You learn everything you can about it.
And that's what intimacy with Christ does. You study Him. You get to know Him. It's not about me...even though I emote with drama to Him...it's about Him. It's all about knowing Him intimately. I love that the authors of the psalms feel safe in the intimacy of relationship with their God.
Still pondering...deeply...this morsel of delight.
