July 29 - Isaiah 5 - 8 "Think "God-With-Us" Journey Not Solutions"

Isaiah 5:  10  I wonder if we can hear the God-of-the-Angel-Armies say today: "Those mighty houses will end up empty. Those extravagant estates will be deserted...they have nothing to do with the work of God."  Oh God, may we spend the rest of our days advancing your Kingdom---it's our prayer that we work righteousness, Isaiah 5:17.  Would you please, Holy God, show up and show us what "holy" is through these words of Isaiah?

Isaiah 6:1
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Master sitting on a throne—high, exalted!  Would you expose what men and women we put up on a pedestal thinking they are stronger, wiser like this king who caused a stir in his death.  May we follow no man?  Attach me to No One but You.

Isiah 6:8  Gone your guilt, your sins wiped out." And then I heard the voice of the Master:  Whom shall I send?"  Would You help us deal with our sins this day, this moment?  Our lack of love.
Isaiah 7:2  "When the Davidic government learned that Aram had joined forces with Ephraim (that is, Israel), Ahaz and his people were badly shaken. They shook like trees in the wind."  What they feared wasn't even legitimate.  Why am I shaking like a tree in the wind?  What do I fear?  What is my terror?
Isaiah 7:10 - 12  "Ask for a sign from your God. Ask anything. Be extravagant. Ask for the moon!"  But Ahaz said, "I'd never do that. I'd never make demands like that on God!"  Ahaz almost missed hearing the prophecy of Jesus.  I love Isaiah 7: 14 - the Master is going to give you a sign anyway.  God, would you give us this day what we are missing?  God-With-Us.

Isaiah 8:10   "All your talk is mere talk, empty words, because when all is said and done, the last word is Immanuel—God-With-Us."  Am I really convinced that God is with me in this?

Isaiah 8:16  While I wait for God as long as he remains in hiding, while I wait and hope for Him, I stand my ground and hope.  In the midst of confusion, will you wait in hope with me?  Will you redefine your problems as God-With-Us on a Journey---not solutions for our suffering.  God-With-Us in His Providence has allowed what you face today.  Providential Suffering.  Face the silence and wait in hope with me.

  1. As much as I'd like to isolate right now, I don't think I should.

I was really struggling yesterday and this morning I was almost too afraid to read this, thinking it might add to my confusion. I refuse to let satan get the best of me so I came here and I'm glad I did.

By faith...I'm going to keep coming back for more!
    I love you guys!

  2. Is 7:10-12 - how we sell God short, asking for such small things as immediate needs. God With Us wants more for us. Can we just trust Him, rest in faith? Worry is so futile, yet I can work myself into knots just by thinking about all the things on my plate. But one step at a time and it's so doable with Him.

We're in Portland Maine right now and I can almost let go. I'm looking over a harbor filled with glistening blue and sails. The cool breeze won't be defeated by the harsh sun. And I realize, I haven't quite let go. Missing God, missing His presence. Lord, reconnect me. Tie me to the hem of Your garment, that I do not stray. Your Kingdom comes. Your Will be done. Blessed "God with us."

  3. "He (God) looked for a crop of justice and saw them murdering each other. He looked for a harvest of righteousness and heard only the moans of victims."

"They make sure their banquets are well-furnished with harps and flutes and plenty of wine, But they'll have nothing to do with the work of God, pay no mind to what he is doing. Sheol developed a huge appetite, swallowing people nonstop!"

"But by working justice, God-of-the-Angel-Armies will be a mountain. By working righteousness, Holy God will show what "holy" is. And lambs will graze as if they owned the place, Kids and calves right at home in the ruins."

"I saw the Master sitting on a throne—high, exalted!—and the train of his robes filled the Temple."

***Oppression is all over these verses. But God is still on His throne. He is Holy. Holy. Holy.

Evil may appear to be god.
But whether or not we can see Him or hear Him right now, He is God and He reigns in righteousness.

I pray for my eyes to be open to see Him as Isaiah saw Him.***

"While I wait for God as long as he remains in hiding, while I wait and hope for him. I stand my ground and hope,"

***Send me, Lord. I'm journeying with You...***
