PSALM 66
Didn't God set us on this road to life?
Didn't He keep us out of the ditch?
He trained us first,
passed us like silver through refining fires,
Brought us into hardscrabble country,
pushed us to our very limit,
Road-tested us inside and out,
took us to hell and back;
Finally he brought us
to this well-watered place.
PSALM 69
God, God, save me! I'm in over my head.
Quicksand under me, swamp water over me;
I'm going down for the third time.
I'm hoarse from calling for help...
What I never stole, must I now give back? ...
My family treats me like an unwanted guest.
Psalm 69:16 - Now answer me,God , because you love me;
Let me see your great mercy full-face.
This Messianic poem about Jesus' childhood touches deeply.
Jesus felt like an unwanted guest in his own home.
I think I forget that.
"Those who die to every false hope (the message of Job),
who come alive to Me as they are and as I AM and
not as they think I should be (the message of Psalms),
are ready to live My Way in this world." 66 LL
What false hope do I grasp in my hand this day?
What thought can I not "let go" of?
My prayer for each of us is that
we "let go" of what we grasp in our hands.
May we see Your Great Mercy, full-face!

ReplyDeleteI just don't think that about Jesus. The NT says so little of his childhood. Wonder how that made Mary feel when Jesus' siblings treated Him with distance. Distant from Jesus Christ and there He sat at their table. Am I distant today at my own table?
Bev,as I read today's chapters I thought the same thing. Somehow it just never occurs to me that Jesus is not loved and appreciated by his own family.
ReplyDeleteYet I recall growing up my sister(2 years older) and I would fight like cats and dogs at times, but get out of the family and we would always protect one another. I saw the same with my own two daughters when they were elementary age through high school age. Yet Jesus was perfect and was punished for sins in his life He DID NOT commit. Jesus experience as scriptures mentions his brothers shunned Him.
I appreciated all the praise that came through Psalm 66-68 then BAM! Where too much of the time I can find myself easily.
Psalm 69
1 God, God, save me! I'm in over my head, 2 Quicksand under me, swamp water over me; I'm going down for the third time. 3 I'm hoarse from calling for help, Bleary-eyed from searching the sky for God. 4 I've got more enemies than hairs on my head; Sneaks and liars are out to knife me in the back. What I never stole Must I now give back? 5 God, you know every sin I've committed; My life's a wide-open book before you. 6 Don't let those who look to you in hope Be discouraged by what happens to me, Dear Lord! God of the armies! Don't let those out looking for you Come to a dead end by following me—Please, dear God of Israel!
Lord, I pray for you to keep me in awareness of the HOLY GOD you are that I am close to you and recognize your presence as I live out my life today.
A song of Praise and Plea to Elohim, I must Sing.

Psalm 69:36b
ReplyDelete"lovers of his name"
Promises spoken by David.
We have an inheritance...those who are the "lovers of his name."
Jesus.
When others spit on him...
those who love his name weep.
When others ridicule him...
those who love his name worship him.
When others curse his name...
those who love him sing praises unto him.
When others turn their back on him...
those who love him run to him.
When others steal from him...
those who love him give their last coin to him.
When others forget him...
those who love him remember him.
"This do in remembrance of me."
There is no sweeter name than Jesus.
How I love his name...
Oh Deborah, I love what you wrote! Stirs up something inside of me!
ReplyDeleteOh, Bev, the Psalms are so beautiful. They bring me so much comfort. I loved that one little nugget from that verse.
ReplyDeleteThose who love his name...
I know all of us pearls on a string love his name...
Hugs, Bev! You shine!
