Psalm 40: 1 "I waited and waited and waited for God. At last He looked; finally He listened." That's where I am this day. Waiting on God, not waiting on any man. God, would you please show up? We need you so.
Psalm 40: 2-3 He lifted me out of the ditch, pulled me from deep mud. He stood me up on a solid rock to make sure I wouldn't slip. He taught me how to sing the latest God-song. Enter the Mystery; abandon yourself to God.
Psalm 40:6 Doing something for You, bringing something to You— that's not what You're after.
Being religious, acting pious— that's not what you're asking for. You've opened my ears so I can listen. So many are caught up in "doing" and not in "being." We are human beings, not human doers.
Psalm 40: 7 -8 So I answered, "I'm coming. I read in your letter what you wrote about me,
And I'm coming to the party you're throwing for me." That's when God's Word entered my life,
became part of my very being.
Psalm 41: 9-10 talks about how those we have walked with through life have bitten our hands. Stand us up tall God! Verse 11 -12 Meanwhile, I'm sure you're on my side— You know me inside and out, you hold me together, you never fail to stand me tall in your presence...
Psalm 42:2 I want to drink God, deep draughts of God. I'm thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, "Will I ever make it— arrive and drink in God's presence?" I'm on a diet of tears—tears for breakfast, tears for supper.
Psalm 42:4-5 These are the things I go over and over, emptying out the pockets of my life. Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— Soon I'll be praising again. Three times David writes this same verse. Our old nature cries the blues. Our wills are so strong and we are dead set against suffering. Rehearse everything I know of you! Chaos calls to chaos.
Psalm 45: 1 My heart bursts its banks, spilling beauty and goodness. I pour it out in a poem to the king,
shaping the river into words.
Psalm 45: 10-12 With dazzling dresses and a procession of joy and wedding gifts pouring in, may the upcoming brides not miss a word: Forget your country, put your home behind you. Be here---the King is wild for you.
Have been away from the blog for the past few days and am just catching up on all of the comments.
ReplyDeleteWOW, Deborah! What a blessing to me! Thank you for the gift of your words, my friend. Bev's right - you are a poet!
I'm so humbled to be a part of such a special group of women. Each one of you touch me so deeply with your honesty, your struggles, your desire for the Lord, and your encouragement.
Oh, Cici, you should be on the receiving end of those precious visions I see from God. When I'm typing them out, He just starts showing me these cameos and they are so precious as they unfold.
ReplyDeleteYours was strong and powerful. I could just sense the might as you were rising up. So much courage and determination to follow Your God!
It was a tenderness towards His girls this Father's Day. So glad you read it and were blessed by it.
Psalm 45.
ReplyDeleteDo y'all see Jesus as King and us as His Bride in this psalm? How appropriate as Annette prepares her daughter for a wedding this week.
If you were to name a scent for Jesus...the fragrance of Him...it would have to be very manly...but beautiful.
Some of the fragrances associated with Jesus are
myrrh
frankincense
spikenard
And Exodus 30 lists the ingredients for the sacred incense.
Don't you know His fragrance is going to be so beautiful?
I love this Psalm.
The one and only thing I've ever decoupaged was a box I made for my daddy at Christmas one year.
He is a blessing to me. So kind. So obedient to God. So faithful. Full of grace and mercy. But He stands for Truth, too.
I took this box and decoupaged a Christmas Card photo of Mary, baby Jesus with angels serenading them. It was hard and time-consuming, but it turned out beautiful. Inside the box I put some scented candles I had ordered online that were the scents of Christ. And I printed out a paper copy of Psalm 45 rolled up in a scroll and placed in the box. The inside was covered with red satin.
When you lifted the top off the box, oh...the fragrance...overwhelming.
Now, when I read Psalm 45, I think about Jesus Christ adorned for His wedding with His Bride, the church. And I remember the fragrance that just overwhelms you.
Read through Psalm 45 slowly and imagine the beauty of Jesus Christ prepared for His bride.
I'm loving 66 LLs for the book of psalms.
Read this from page 91:
"Your tears will become the melody of a new song."
That paragraph is so rich. God wants us to sing a new song.
