April 28 ... II Kings 20 - 22 "I Observe Your Tears"

2 Kings 20: 1-3  "Hezekiah became deathly sick. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz paid him a visit and said, "Put your affairs in order; you're about to die—you haven't long to live."  Hezekiah turned from Isaiah and faced God, praying: [What's the first thing he did?  He turned to his God.]  Remember, O God, who I am, what I've done! I've lived an honest life before you, My heart's been true and steady, I've lived to please you; lived for your approval. And then the tears flowed. Hezekiah wept."  This king didn't beg God for what he wanted.  He wanted God's more than his own will.  And I just love God's response in verses 4 through 6:   Isaiah, leaving, was not halfway across the courtyard when the word of God stopped him: "Go back and tell Hezekiah, prince of my people, 'God's word, Hezekiah! From the God of your ancestor David: I've listened to your prayer and I've observed your tears. I'm going to heal you. In three days you will walk on your own legs into The Temple of God. I've just added fifteen years to your life; I'm saving you from the king of Assyria, and I'm covering this city with my shield—for my sake and my servant David's sake.'"  Oh!  Embrace your sorrows don't try to change them into good.  Hold fast to Him and His Plan A. My prayer for you this day is: 2 Thes 3:16 and the LORD of PEACE Himself give you peace at all times and in every way this day and more.

  1. What's up with computers? Before I could hit publish, I lost my post and had to write another one. Where did it go? Floating in cyberspace---there's a lot of floating out there this week---smile. Blair flew back home today. The complete pathology report came back yesterday - BENIGN! Thank you God! And thank you to each of you for your prayers for my girl. He heard. He listened. He observed my tears. He answered!

  2. Praising Him for Blair's good news.

What struck me this morning as I was reading was how often the enemy will try to get us to question God's intervening, goodness and direction in our lives. (2Kings 20:8)

Last week was a tough week, but God was right there hearing me, intervening, directing and being good! Thank you, Father.

  3. So grateful for Blair's good news and for answered prayers. I am sorry 'Nise, you had a tough week. Hope things are better today. I love that we can't just read God's Word and not let it stir compassion inside us for each other. I care for each one of you and pray for you, particularly as I go back and read your comments. Thanks for sharing your life as well as your thoughts here on this forum.

I think we often give other things credit for the healing when it is solely God's decision whether we get to take our next breath or not. "Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "How do I know whether this is of God and not just the fig plaster?" God uses His instruments to heal, to reveal, to draw us to Him, and we need not care so much how He chooses to work in our lives, but that He does choose to hear our prayers, to be close to us, to heal and deliver, to display His sheer wonder in our lives.

I'm filled with a grateful heart today. May we all live an honest life before Him, our hearts steady and true, pleasing our wondrous God.

  4. Sooooooo thankful for Blair's results. Soooooo thankful!

White hot. God's anger against these people was burning white hot.

I wonder...when we read about all the evil kings...on one extreme...

and then you have great men of faith...Elisha, Elijah and Hezekiah.

I don't want to miss out on the good in this book. The distastefulness of evil rulers is STRONG. Overwhelmingly strong.

But the sheer wonder of men like we've read about here just makes me love my God more than ever.

I am so glad that we can see His Hand and His Power in the middle of the worst times of our lives. I know how precious it is to experience His godstops when I'm feeling forgotten. And I do see His godstops all the time in my life.

Thankful for God's eye on me. So thankful He sees our tears and He hears our prayers.

  5. Thanking God this morning for His faithfulness and the GREAT NEWS of Blair's report.

Lifting you up this week Nise and asking Him to draw closer to you, as you draw near to Him.

Bev's prayer for us to have Peace at all times and in every way this day and more.........was such an encouragement to hear and receive.

In today's reading is we find a theme that has been missing for most of Judges and Kings, and that theme was the obedience to God's word. In 11 Kings 22:11 "When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robe."

What made him respond that way? His obedience to God, to have God's will for his life over his own will was HUGE in those days, and even HUGE in today's world. Josiah KNEW the POWER of GOD's Word and could not bare to live without God's presence in his life. He mourned the thought that God would leave him.

What a more precious gift that you and I have, that when we received Christ, HIS SPIRIT began dwelling in us. Yet, today many people do not realize the POWER that the WORD could have on their lives.

Today many people own bibles, but few are affected by the truths found in God's Word. The Word of God should cause us, like Josiah, to take action immediately to reform our lives and bring them into harmony with God's will.

My prayer today is that God continue to open our eyes to His Word, to lead us closer to Him, and that He (and only He) will receive the Glory.

    Have a blessed day!!
