1 Kings 6:7 "The stone blocks for the building of The Temple were all dressed at the quarry so that the building site itself was reverently quiet—no noise from hammers and chisels and other iron tools." Isn't this the way God works in our lives---quietly. No noise from the chisel in His Presence. Verse 11 says that what is important about the Temple being built is that you live the way God set out for you and do what HE tells. Only then, God says, I'll personally take up my residence among you---won't desert you ever. So, what happened to Solomon in all this magnificent Glory being built on Mount Moriah? The same place where Abraham climbed to sacrifice his son Isaac. And it's the same hill where Jesus will climb to His death for many. A holy hill. So, what does Solomon want more than the Love of his God after 7 years spent on the temple and 13 years spent on his palace? Power. Ambition. 66 LL: "Solomon's priority on power made him vulnerable to the demand for pleasure." Solomon had read Deut 17:17 but it didn't result in holy living for him. 700 wives and 300 concubines. "Solomon failed to engage the real battle in the human soul between losing your life for ME or gaining your life without ME." I think there are lots of people who look very wise and successful in their Christian lives but they do not engage in the real battle going on every day in their human soul. My prayer is that we engage in the real battle being fought today and invite others to walk with us who will draw out of us the women God intended for us to be.
As you face this day the battle that wages in your wwn soul, may you draw out your friend, your sister, your son, your husband, your daughter, your sister-in-law to be the person that God created them to be. I send Britt a lot of texts that simply remind him: "I'm in the battle for your soul." I'm in the battle for you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the intricate detail of design from God for the temple construction. Only the best was used Stone, cedar, silver, bronze and gold. As I was reading, I was impressed by the amount of gold that was used. I don't think the gold was so much for God's benefit, after all He created it. I think the gold symbolizes sacrifice of the people. Everytime they went into the temple, they would be in awe of the majestey of God. He is truly magnificent. As we remember we are children of the King of Kings, do not fear; the battle is already won.
ReplyDeleteI join with you in the prayer that I may draw out of my friends, daughter, daughter in law, son, son in law, husband, grandchildren...the person that God created them to be. What a beautiful thought. Bless you...you draw it out of me, He has used you so greatly in my life. Bless you for being so obedient...love you Mary lou
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful statement......"I am in battle for your soul." Just gave me chills to think about the POWER we wage each time we pray and worship to our Father. And to realize that the Lord does call us to intercede for our loved ones and needs of others, because we truly are in battle for their souls.
