January 30 ... Exodus 36 - 38 "Weight of Holiness"

Exodus 36:1 - The Israelites were eager to work and make everything for the Sanctuary. The people couldn't give enough! No building program needed here---they gave freely from their hearts: 1,900 lbs of gold; 6,437 lbs of silver; 4,522 lbs of bronze. Whoa! That's a whole lot of architectural detail! Meaning what? 66 Love Letters: "I will do whatever it take to fully restore my family." God wants it more than I do! HE really wants to change us. "Let the weight of my holiness draw you into the delights of My Love. I still want to be with you." Amazing that it doesn't depend on what we "do." God wants to be near us in all our imperfection.

  1. I continue to be amazed at the detailed instructions God provides that there may be no mistake of how to construct the sanctuary. God gives me very detailed instructions too. God's Grace and Mercy has been so abundant in my life to help me get to a place where my desire to Hear His voice and His daily instructions trumps various activities I used to enjoy. Spending time with Him and those in His church on this earth are who I so desire to be with.

The question is why do I allow myself to get so distracted that all to often I find myself limiting my ALONE time with Him? Jesus help me Remember and Return quickly when I stray from Time with You. Sylvia remember to experience God's BEST in my life requires more ALONE time with HIM.

  2. This is a pdf of The Tabernacle--especially look at page 2. http://ageffert.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/sermon_0803081.pdf

I'm not sure this link will come up in comments, but our executive pastor talked about what each piece in the tabernacle pointed to in God's wisdom. It's about 4 minutes if you have time...well worth it to see the picture of His mercy and provision.

Here's the link to the video: http://ageffert.wordpress.com/2008/08/13/lord-prepare-me-a-sanctuary/

His Word, a blanket, and a hot cup of coffee on a gray Saturday morning is a sweet place for my heart today.

  3. God is so in the details. Love how He gave them the instructions for the Tabernacle and how He had provided just what they were to have. He had gone before them, and provided. What does that say to me today? Wow. A great deal. Sitting here in the den, looking at the ice on the trees and marveling at His beauty and thankful that our power has NOT gone off. I have thanked Him more than once for the power that is keeping me warm inside and outside. Blessings on all who are reading along with Bev. 66 Love Letters is a gift from God too, thanks Bev.

  5. I enjoy reading the details but I wish I could have seen it live and in person. A 75 pound brick of pure gold...holy aromatic oil...rich colors woven and draped...hammered petals...

and the fact that they received so much that they finally had to say, "Stop" "No more."

I just love it when God is in the planning of things. The brilliance of His divine orchestration is stunning. Simply stunning.

And to think that He is that involved in our lives. I miss so many glorious things He does every day in my life.

Lord, give me eyes to see Your spectacular direction in my life. Never let me take one moment for granted. Thank You for Your Grand Style and Brilliance. You are still God of this world. Of my life. I love You.

  6. Yes, Bev. He's still at FBC, and I love to hear him preach. Years ago he worked with Charles Stanley. Maybe you could come hear him some Sunday at his Sunday school class. I know he'd love to see you.
