357 - "The Glass of the Commandments" Obadiah 1; Jonah

Somewhere in my thinking, I believe I can get away with stuff.
I mean, I don't want to.
But it comes pouring out of me, shocking me to no end.

"As you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head."

Obadiah 1:15
One of the commentaries shared it this way:
Sin, thus looked upon in the glass of the commandment, will appear exceedingly sinful. Those will have a great deal to answer for, who are idle spectators of the troubles of their neighbors, when able to be active helpers."

The glass of the commandment.  We see through the glass to read the promptings.  And the Word sees through the glass right back at us.  So ... Don't miss the grace of God.

Who am I that you take care of me?
Who am I that you think of me?
The God of all Goodness and Grace.
Always doing us good.
Even though we may not see it today.
If we are following God,
we will be influenced by that Goodness.
We will resolve to follow further, deeper in.
But it's not just a decision!
It is Grace!
May we not miss the Grace of God
in all our little big problems.
Those times when a whale swallows us.
May we pray like Jonah to resist the idols
and receive the Grace & Goodness of God!
Jonah 2:8 who pay regard to vain idols

forsake their hope of steadfast love.
Jonah 2:8.

The basis of the spiritual life is humility. Not the haughty attitude that I know what is right and I am going to let you know. May we not distance ourselves.  May we not miss Your Grace & Goodness! Even in the belly of a whale.  And that's about the toughest circumstances around.
No light.  No exit.  No advocate.  No explanation.  No way out.
Unless God does something.  And He did.
