Do we have the power to enjoy what is going on in our lives? God grants it.
There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, and it lies heavy on mankind: a man to whom God gives wealth, possessions, and honor, so that he lacks nothing of all that he desires, yet God does not give him power to enjoy them, but a stranger enjoys them. Eccl 6:2
Oh! God, as Bonhoeffer once wrote: There is no more significant moment in humankind than this present moment.
What is it that we cannot control?
What is it that we canot understand.
What is it that we cannot do to live in the present?
Father, somehow I have this "enjoyment" thing turned upside down on its head. We pray that half of what we are exposed to this day, sinks deep into our repentant hearts. Psalm 51:6
