DEUTERONOMY - Take-Aways

WILDERNESS
Moses knew he would not enter the land of Canaan, the Promised Land. Yet! Moses carried on. And he encouraged the people he led saying: "The Lord your God Who goes before you, will Himself fight for you." Deut 1:30. Can I fling everything in my hand, in my heart, upward to Heaven in my wilderness?  How the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 40 years! The journey was less than 15 days in distance.

LEADERSHIP
Moses destination was heaven not Horeb. His ministry was to people not a place. Moses understood far more than any other living person.  You must not demand that to find success, to see God's Hand move, to attain fulfillment, that you should enter a Promised Land. Moses looked right through the promised land into the eyes of God. The eyes of the LORD your God are always upon [your life], from the beginning of the year to the end of the year." Deut 11:11-12.

IDOLATRY
"You shall not make for yourselves the likeness of anything in the heavens, in the earth, under the earth, even under the waters." Deuteronomy 5:8.  No likeness of anything.  Do not set up any wooden Asherah pole beside the altar you build to the Lord your God, and do not erect a sacred stone, for these the Lord your God hates." Deut 16:21 - Worshipping other gods.  What is it that we do with this one life of ours?" What I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven.  Nor is it beyond the sea.  No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it." Deuteronomy 30:11-14.

COVENANT
Deut 29:11-14. "You are standing here in order to enter into a covenant with the Lord your God"... I hope all the words you've ever heard help you to truly live.
When you call to mind what you have done . . .Return to the LORD your God.
Obey His Voice  with all your heart and soul . . .Then, the LORD will restore you and have mercy on you and gather you. Deut 30:2-3
And these words will not be idle words to you. They are your very life. Deuteronomy 32:47.
And those are the words of Moses.
