As the man, so is his strength. Judges 8:21.
Gideon wanted his son to have the honor of putting the enemies to death.
He son was too afraid. That's okay with Gideon.
Gideon would do the honor himself.
And his enemies reply:
Rule over us as lord.
Gideon would not put ambition as more important in his story.
Sacrifice ambition to duty and have "supreme regard to the Divine honor."
We may be judges but the Lord Alone is king.
