September 24 "Give What You Have" Acts 3
Peter and John went to the temple, both literally and spiritually, to pray and worship in the evening sacrifice. Here sits a man with no temporal hope of walking ever. The man begs for bread. Peter fixes his eyes---the same thought for SYATP today, Fix Your Eyes on Jesus---and breaks the news: Peter has no money to give the beggar. What Peter does have is his hand. Peter commands the man to walk. The Greek word verb is "continuous action." And Peter grabs the beggar's right hand to pull him up. The power comes from Christ. The hand comes from Peter. "So must he church ever act." IVP. The beggar, who no longer is a beggar but a receiver. Indisputable. Inconceivable. Immutable.
