July 29 "No Longer a Patient" Isaiah 5-8
In the year King Uzziah died, he saw God.
What happened that his eyes were open?
Uzziah had been king for 50 years. Big news.
Israel's king is now dead.
Israel's God still lives.
"From the mortality of great and good men
we should take occasion to look up with an eye of faith
to the King eternal, immortal." Matthew Henry
And Isaiah sees God sitting on a throne.
A throne of glory, of government, of grace.
May we worship, submit to authority, and
come boldly to the throne of grace.
Uzziah died as a patient, a leper.
Isaiah woke from being a patient.
He came alive. And we can shed
whatever it is that binds us tight.
