Like the sun setting, David descends from the throne. Like the sun rising, Solomon aspires to rule the kingdom. I Kings 1:2 - David says, I am about to go the way of all the earth,” he said. “So be strong, act like a man, and observe what the Lord your God requires: Walk in obedience to him, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and regulations, as written in the Law of Moses. Do this so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go and that the Lord may keep his promise to me. David anoints a new king, a youth in age, a man in stature. Will Solomon allow the Lord to rule his heart? He appears fit for the crown, resolute and ready. May God ready us all for what He has called us to, whether a crown or a cross.
