"Is there no balm in Gilead?" Jer 8:22
DEAR GOD, PLEASE CHANGE ME WHEN I BELIEVE IN MY 10,000 MOMENTS THAT THE BALM HAS RUN DRY. Help me to see today the balm that You have provided in the midst of this messy life, this broken world, that I continue to grapple with such unholiness of my part and the parts of those I come in daily contact with. Help my unbelief!
It did not grow beyond the Jordan.
But did they have physicians there?
Absolutely. And good ones.
It was a place where "proper medicine" was practiced.
So, what's the point of the passage?
We have teachers and prophets who give us the counsel of the Word of God.
Do we believe them?
They are instruments in the Hands of God for our healing.
They call us to surrender, repent, and change our ways.
They point us to the Only One Who can heal our souls from within.
