The Levites were the ministers. They had no "state," no "province" within the doors of Israel to call their own home. The inheritance of the Levites was the Lord alone! Remember when God said to Aaron in Numbers 18:20 - You have no inheritance in the land, no portion among them; I am Your Portion. I am Your Inheritance. This gives so much hope to those things we have lost in this life.
"When you cross the Jordan into Canaan, select some towns to be your cities of refuge." Numbers 35:10
Things happen in this life.
Immutable Things.
Lay hold of the hope before you.
Find your refuge in God Alone.
Hebrews 6:18.
DEAR GOD, PLEASE CHANGE ME IN ONE OF THESE 10,000 MOMENTS: May my Refuge be only in You. May I see at this juncture of my life that I may not have an inheritance in land and life but may I see more fully than ever that my Inheritance is in You.

, in closing out two estates...my mother and my mother in law....it's all just stuff and in the end, no one really wants your stuff, they have enough of their own. Did keep a few things of each set of parents that had special memories but was not a lot. Things that meant a lot to them, like my mother;s dining room table was only special to her. Said all of that to say, whatever you have "lost" your children will never miss. You will be what they miss, I wear a wedding band of my mother's....that means the most to me. It's the small things. Plus her legacy of faith. And her life of faithfulness to Him and to my daddy. Those are the truly important things we leave. Even though the loss of material things hurts for a while, You are leaving such a testimony and spiritual legacy for your children and grandchildren!!!!

ReplyDeleteSo true about things not being missed. I dread the thought of my kids having to go through and purge all the "stuff" that we've accumulated. I have little control in it due to feelings of lack that a family member suffers from, but it isn't compassionate to the rest of your family to hoard. I miss my mother's sage advice. I miss my dad's hugs. Not the house we grew up in. I couldn't sort through their "stuff" fast enough to not get buried with them. True inheritance is exactly what you both have said--a spiritual legacy, a testimony of His Grace that will be carried forth to your children's children! And we are blessed in this moment as well by what you have invested in for such a beautiful heart--like Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus, choosing the better. Sweet reminders this morning for the unencumbered life. Love you, Bev and Mary Lou.
