November 15 "Strength to Endure" I Corinthians 10

These things are written from long long ago for our admonition.

"The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." I Cor 10:7. Idolaters.

Do we join our lives to Christ, to His community, yet go our way to do what we want, what we think is best.

"Let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn't fall." 1 Cor 10:12.
"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man.
God will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able,
but will make the way of escape,
that you may be able to endure it." I Cor 10:13

And that's the thing with temptation---we just might have to endure it with a High Promise that our God will lift us up and carry us through and pull us close.  Others have had to bear up, barrel on, and break through the same kinds of temptations and trials that we face today.  Our strength from God will match the temptation.  And that's a Promise.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Father, thank you for the Great Consolation that nothing we face is on our own.  The words that burn, the distance that pierces, the rejection that swallows, the temptations that strangle---may we learn a little better this day how to endure what you have left in place.
