August 9 "No Balm, No Physician" Jeremiah 7, 8, 9

It's just a beautiful thing to see Jeremiah care so much for the people he is trying to help.  His eyes are fountains of tears.  His joy is gone.  His heart is sick within.  A wounded heart.  Grief is all over him.  Jeremiah 8:18.  Why?  These people have come to ruin by refusing to reason and repent.  They won't give an ear to Jeremiah and Josiah.  All reasoning has gone out the window.  The voice of God is ignored.  And the dynamic pair of Jeremiah and Josiah care deeply. Wow.  Do I think about people that way, that much?

"Is there no balm in Gilead?
Is there no physician there?" Jer. 8:22
We know there is a Great Physician there who can apply His medicine and heal the whole kingdom---if they will let Him.  They have to be willing to be healed.  So do we.

And to sum up all the disaster of people who really do not want God:
Thus says the Lord: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” Jer 9

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Father, it's the prayer of our wounded hearts:  May we boast in this---that we understand you a little bit better today, that we know you a little more fuller today, that we trust you a tad bit deeper today.
PHOTO:  Fountains of tears.  And thinking about---what are my tears for?  I am so sad for those who do not know this God of ours.

  1. Jeremiah's heart was wounded because the people no longer knew Yaweh, they would not listen to him or their king, much less God. Jeremiah wanted the Jews to return to the Lord. I wonder, if I am as hurt for the lost as I should be when I watch the news and roll my eyes at some our of leaders' shenanigans? Why is it easier at times to pray for lost people around the world than fellow Americans? I judge them because they have heard the gospel, some attend church - Americans still have the freedom to worship God.

Lord, Please forgive me for my hard heart against unsaved Americans. Please remove my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh for all lost people. In Jesus' Name I pray.
