A youthful prince & a novice prophet join Kingdom forces and things grow worse.
Josiah was 21 and trying to turn around his followers from the high places.
While God was calling a young Jeremiah to speak, prophesy and reform.
Both young men met the Voice of God in unison, in fear and trembling.
And Jeremiah hears God say to him:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
and before you were born I consecrated you;
I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:3
Not just a prophet to his people, but to the nations!
And Jeremiah tenderly trembles:
“Ah, Lord God!

“Ah, Lord God!
I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”
But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;
for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,
and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Jeremiah 1:6-7.
Whatever it is God is saying to you this day.
Go in weakness.
Speak in dependence.
“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
And I am watching over my word to perform it.” Jeremiah 1:16.
God fits each of us to His Calling and watches over all.
But you, dress yourself for work. Jeremiah 1:17
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Dear Father, there are days when I believe I could have done better. I could have taken more initiative. I could have...the list goes on. The truth is You are always working to bring about good. I must lay down the high places in my mind of where I think I should be. Direct me this day to speak Your Word. Watch over Your Word to perform it today.

And I come back to these words: Dress yourself for work. Whatever is in front of us. Let's do it! What has God called us to? I missed a phone call from my doctor about an hour ago. The Voice Mail said: Please call the nurse about your medical condition. Uh. Oh. What condition? You see, the doctor said she would only call me if the biopsy revealed cancer. So, I dress myself for work. I wait on a very Good God. I love the thought today that both of these young men joined together to fight the good fight of faith. And you all are such an encouragement to me to go on, to wrestle well with these pieces of our lives.
ReplyDeleteCannot stop thinking about my friend, Ruth, whose husband woke up Saturday morning, and slipped into another Kingdom before noon. Totally unexpected. New emptynesters. Expecting their first grandchild this fall. Ruth will live up to her name. She loves the Lord and may she grieve well. My heart just breaks for her.
ReplyDeletePraying for you Bev. Jeremiah's message was/is a hard message. What sin am I letting in the door, what have I put on a high place? Please reveal it to me Lord.

And the doctor called back. No cancer scare here.
ReplyDeleteThe doctor was just checking to see how I was doing with the pain in my tailbone that I've had for 3 months. So unusual in our day that a doctor calls to ask how you are doing.
Glad to hear it. When my dr. called me in March, I almost lost the ability to talk due to the shock factor.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear the Dr. results, Bev. Praying for Ruth.
ReplyDeleteJust prayed for Ruth. Praying for you. Haven't head a Dr call and check on me, but my internist was very nice to me and was very thoughtful in the way he helped me with my blood work before my ablation. He is a Christian and we share that bond in Christ. He is also a very good doctor and was so very thankful for him and his sweet attitude. So thankful the Dr was only calling to check on you. Praying for relief from the pain.
