July 29. "Don't Light My Own Fire" Isaiah 49, 50, 51, 52, 53

Isaiah 49:16

"I have engraved you on the palm of my hands."

Not a tattoo, not a likeness, not just your name.

I am carried in the heart of God. Isaiah 49:16.

For those days when we walk in the dark,
where there is no light for our path,
may we trust in the Name of the Lord,
our God.  Isaiah 50:10
May we lay down our strategies, our crutch,
and not try to illuminate our path
through analysis and maneuvers and spotlights.
If we walk by the light of our own fires,
God puts in Isa 50:11 that it won't turn out well for us.
Torment is the word He uses.

Father, make us aware way down deep where it counts as to the strategies we use to make our paths bright so we can walk safely, securely, with no stumblings.  Open our ears, our hearts, to see what we are doing in the midst of our darkness.  May we struggle well.  May we learn a little bit more this day what it means to depend on You in trust where there is no light.
