Let's string these pearls together:
No crooked speech. 19:1
No crooked speech. 19:1
No, no haste with my feet. 19:2
And only God's purposes stand. 19:21
Draw out like deep waters, His purposes 20:5
Search all my innermost parts Lamp of the Lord. 20:27
Search all my innermost parts Lamp of the Lord. 20:27
Turn even king's hearts like a watercourse wherever You will. 21:1
That. last. verse. You plan, but Victory belongs to the Lord. 21:31.
Why do I want to have everything work out for my good?
Why am I working so hard to make sure I know what to do?
Why do I think I can figure out how to do this life of mine?
I can plan and prepare and execute...
honestly, any time anything works, it is because God has done it.
Every Victory belongs to Him.
Our hearts and hands are in God's Hand. Proverbs 21:1
And like the watercourse, our God can change the minds of men
and turn them like water---not through force---but directing it for His purposes.
Just like He never forces Himself on any of us, in any way. It's our free will.
God can put things into the heart of kings. Those we have no power over.
They have huge rights that come with their crown.
But, they are still under God's Eye, His Hand.
Therefore, I trust. Direct this day!
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Father, Like a watercourse, direct these circumstances of mine, even this day, for Your Purposes. Help me to stand tall when you direct my ways. It's not a big force to make me do what You want. It's a beautiful Direction to accomplish what is on Your Heart for my life. You can change even the heart of kings. Direct this life of mine.

Sitting here. Reading this again and again. At a track. Uh oh! Someone just took the car keys belonging to the car sitting beside me. Uh oh! Now the person driving my car just backed into another car. Never a dull moment with the Brandons.
ReplyDeleteThe metaphor in Proverbs 21:1 is so beautiful to me. God does not forcefully control water, He directs it in another way. And then the part about the king's heart---the people who hold the greatest power around---even kings of the land are still under God's control. I think I'll remember this one for a good while. Love this!
