We are becoming even more inward. Here's a woman with a genuine thirst for God from a very lofty position. God calls her the Queen of the South.
Sheba came not to sign a treaty or gain an alliance.
Sheba brought an entourage with a great retinue.
Sheba gave much affection and honor to Solomon.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Dear Father, Would You help us to take our eyes off of ourselves and revive us in Your Ways. Give us wisdom this day to ask the right questions, at the right time.

Solomon's story always haunts me. Here is a man who God showed favor to because of his father, David. Here is a man that "had it all" by world standards, yet caved inward upon himself. Depression and perhaps even a little boredom with all the "shiny things" that were in abundance, yet he did not honor the Lord. He turned away. In fact, it says "his wives turned him away." That struck me today. We can cause our husbands to fall away. Here is a real case of "be careful what you ask for." God may grant it in His permissible will, yet know we can't handle it.
ReplyDeleteLord, don't let go of us!
Never turn me over to my own devices. I need You more than I need my next breath. Help me to remember You above all the lures of this world. They aren't worth it. They aren't You. You alone bring Life and Life abundant. Your riches are far better.
Bless us with Your Constant Hand on our lives that keeps us from stumbling. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
