May 22 "The Sanctus" Psalms 95, 97, 98, 99

Someone once said that this "Holy" Psalm, the Sanctus,
is one of the most beautiful utterances that ever "leaped from mortal lip." The Treasury of David.

"The Lord reigns. Let the people tremble." Psalm 99:1

If we really saw what was happening, how God has overthrown the reign of evil, how God has set up the Kingdom of righteousness, justice, peace, goodness, love and truth, it would stir the depths of our being. These words are not idle words, they are our very life. Deut 32:47. No trifle here. No small thing.

"The King in His Might loves justice." Psalm 99:4

This reads the most beautiful psalm that ever was. And it comes from the aging lips of a man who has been through betrayal, loss, waywardness, and more. A man who found God in the midst of a mess after mess.

Too much of my life has been lived on a false assumption, a false hope:  "You assume that God relieves struggle and replaces it with rest."  Larry Crabb

Here is David's life.  A testimony of holiness.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Father, may we find You so real in the midst of our messes.
