May 23 "Forgive Me, Again" 2 Samuel 24, I Chronicles 21-22, Psalm 30

David.
Oh! Another overt sin.
Again.
Curved in.  Ambition.
Repent.
Oh! Sorrow! So swift.

David listens well.
"Let us fall into the
Hand of the Lord,
for his mercy is great;
but let me not fall into
the hand of man.” 2 Sam 24:14

For when we sin,
God's anger is but for a moment.
His favor is for a lifetime.  Ps 30:5

Weeping tarries the night.
Joy comes in the morning. Ps 30:5

Troubles come into all of our lives.
Some seem to last a lifetime;
Some are gone with a sigh.
Whatever we face,
"we were made for another world." CS  Lewis
It's why time seems so strange to us.
A wink.  A blink.  We shrink.  No link.
We were not made for time.
No, we were made for Eternity.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Father, thank You for bringing joy this very morning.  Before I even rise.  Joy that is not based on what I do, how I perform, when I succeed, where I live.  Joy breaks in the morning and we cannot thank you enough.

PHOTO:  Joy breaks at the Quarries Lake.  I pass this spot every day of my life.  And I linger here this morning to watch the joy rise.

  1. Oh, He puts it into our hearts that desire for Eternity....it translates into that we at times don't want to leave our families and we want to always be with those we love. Sometimes when your children or grandchildren are little you might wish that things would always be just like this. Well, especially if things are good,if they are not good you might not want them to go on forever. I attribute this to that desire that He has put eternity into our hearts. This is not a real religious post but have heard this discussed before and it is what comes to mind when I read that He has put that desire into our hearts. It is also the desire that is stirred up in us when He draws us to Himself. We want to live with Him forever.

  2. Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

    The joy that comes when we truly repent and we receive forgiveness setting our heart on the course set before us by the Lord.
