Caleb: His name means, "All Heart." Wholly Followed the LORD. With his Wholly Heart. Joshua 14:14. He was so willing to be stoned in that wilderness 45 years ago, remembering it like it was yesterday. Willing to stand tall when threatened by the giants. Bringing a report on the land according to all that was in his heart. Four words---wholly followed the LORD--- that sear, cheer, and bear up my problems. This life is not about me. It's not about the smack dab middle of life that is unfair, unkind, unleashed at me. It's all about my heart wholly following the Infinite Goodness when those surrounding me stiffarm and spit and steam away from me. Let them do what they may. I have found freedom and grace in His Presence that laces my heart up. I do not need them to respond to me a certain way any longer. And Caleb said in Josh 14:7---he did what he could from his heart not his head. That's it. The secret of the "wholly following." This is not about reasoning out the path but all about raising up the white flag on the journey. We want to live with "all heart."
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Father, the words of Charles Spurgeon burn white-hot like Caleb's heart.
"Many people have a head to understand and think, and feet to move, and hands to act, but compassion and a feeling heart, they have not." May we not go there, live there. Make us a people who take heart. We do not want to live like those who impact, influence, even intercede producing tremors of ice. "You talk with him, but no effort on your part can stir the frozen current of his soul." Charles Spurgeon. Many confess such Love for You but their hearts are far away. Isaiah 29:13. Oh, draw us in and up, this day.

And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God in Kadesh-barnea concerning you and me. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. But my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord sent Caleb and Caleb followed Him with his whole heart. As we live out the Word of God on a daily basis, may we go where He sends us and follow Him with our whole heart.
Would appreciate your prayers, Pearls. My son had back surgery yesterday and is dealing with some complications. He's going to be okay but is in some real pain. Thanks, y'all.
ReplyDeleteYou got it..
DeleteThank you. He's doing better this afternoon and hopefully will get to go home tomorrow. I've been watching the children since Monday and the kids kind of hit their limit this evening. Sure appreciate your prayers!
