March 20 "He Will Set You High Above" Deuteronomy 28-29

Here is faithful Moses, once again, with another prophetic burden that cannot be tampered with by his own disappointment.  No, Moses moves on.  Life giving words from a man about to face his own death with a lingering disappointment of not entering the Promised Land.  Yet, fully giving to his followers all that they need to do what he cannot.  Moses says:  “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above ... Deut 28: 2.  And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you.

Blessed shall you be in the city
Blessed shall you be in the field
Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb
Blessed shall be the fruit of your ground
Blessed shall be the increase of your herds
Blessed shall be the young of your flock
Blessed shall you be when you come in
Blessed shall you be when you go out.
Deut 28:3-4

So.
"Demand nothing here.  Expect Everything There.
Surrender all rights to justice, to loving treatment from others, to fulfilling ministry, to all the good things of this life and you will be given tastes of the good things to come.  It is those tasts that fill you with Sustaining Hope until you're welcomed to the banquet."  Larry Crabb who has cancer, again.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Father, set us High Above these circumstances in which we live and love.  Bless us, O God, that we may live for you and not for ourselves.  May our prayers this day be free of demandingness.  It's been a hard week over here.  So much demandingness in my heart for things to be different where You, God, have not called things that way.  Just like Moses who wanted to cross over in the land he had prayed about over four decades.  And You said, "no."  May I accept your no's and your yes's.   I'm struggling so.  May I not live 30,000 feet in the air but with feet planted in this present moment.  Fully alive.

PHOTO:  Looking at my life from 30,000 feet in the air.  Blessed shall you be in the city where you live, in the family you're in, in the circumstance where you're stuck.  Blessed when coming in and when going out.  Pondering this---it's not we are only blessed if things work out, if we are beautiful, if life goes our way, if we make a mark, if life is secure.  No, you are blessed coming in and going out.
