The Israelites wandering in a desert are looking for a Savior. Actually, it appears they are looking for a way out. We look back and realize that we have Him here. His work is finished. Why do we want to look back to the law? We are no longer slaves to sin but slaves to righteousness. Leviticus 26:11 I will make my dwelling among you, and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you and will be your God, and you shall be my people. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.
Fast forward 2,000+ years later. God hovers over this world, this life, this moment. Brought us out of bondage, through the waters, and lifted our heads to make us walk erect this day. Scripture interprets Scripture. Amazing how words dipped in ink 2,000+ years ago find their way to tuck tight into our hearts today. A promise that changes the way I look at today with the eyes of my heart. Not these physical eyes that see a finite world.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Father, open the eyes of our heart that we may truly see our redemption. You crushed sin for this life of ours. Forever.
PHOTO: The sun sets on a Lampasas ranch that stretches tight across wilderness. Wilderness in my heart yet I trust what I cannot see, the Hand of God.
