Aaaon lost both of his precious sons. Cannot imagine. Passed away. But, did they know the LORD?
The two sons offered "unauthorized fire." Didn't do what God commanded them to do. Their dad had to feel immense grief as he followed all God had commanded him and left his sons behind to their own choices. Overwhelming sorrow. And Moses speaks to Aaron: "This is what the LORD has said: 'Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.' "
And here it is. The most precious four words dipped from a pen into ink. "Aaron held his peace." Exodus 10:3.
Do we love God more than we love this life? Oh God, make this mantra true in our lives.

COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Psalm 51:6 - Oh God, let this truth from your Word sink deeply into our hearts. Like weights. Fall down. Down to the floor of the sea where we crossed barefoot on an ocean floor like Israelites.
PHOTO: The Quarries Lake. Outside of the window where I work and live and love. I come to this spot to sing and pray and read. But most of all, I come to listen. And this day I hear words that are life to my soul: hold my peace.
"You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean, and you are to teach the people of Israel all the statutes that the Lord has spoken."
ReplyDeleteSo difficult to read the passage and think of the loss of Aaron. Two of his sons don't take God seriously. Consecrated for service unto the Lord. Reminded with the words, "Holy unto the Lord" they miss the whole point of their purpose. But Aaron sadly accepts his loss. He holds his peace, understanding the seriousness of the unholy act. Hard lessons.
Distinguishing between the holy and the common today becomes increasingly blurred. Many Christians don't dress differently, act differently, think differently than everybody else. But this is our command...
‘By those who come near Me I must be regarded as holy, and before all the people I must be glorifed.’”
