603,548 men marched on to Canaan---but they never made it there!
God commands them to leave Sinai, one of their 42 stops through a wilderness. Exodus 33:2. I'll send an angel before you. I'll drive out who you are afraid of. But no, says God, you're stiff-necked. They could have found freedom but they lived in presumption, unbelief. Christine Caine put it this way: They were delivered from Egypt but never found the freedom of the Promised Land.

Moses pleads for God's Presence to go with them!!! Am I praying this same thing in my own wilderness? Oh, I feel the heartbeat of this earnest prayer. And even in the OT, there is an Intercessor on Moses' behalf. God ever lives to make intercession for us!
Moses begs: Unless You come with me, God, please! I do not want to move without Your Favor. And God's speedy response to Moses and to me and you, for we are all promised a new land: Exodus 33:14 ~ “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” God answers Moses with His Very Own Presence, not that of an angel.
"My faces shall go; all three divine Persons;
Jehovah the Father who the Angel of His Presence was;
Jehovah the Christ whom they tempted in the wilderness;
Jehovah the Holy Spirit whom they vexed.
"And I will give you rest----NOT ease, and peace and tranquility of mind, or a freedom from the fear of enemies and all dangers, much lest rest in the grave before you are brought into Canaan's land;
BUT RATHER the Promised Land itself, which was the rest that was promised, and would be given, and was typical of that eternal rest which remains for the people of God in heaven, and is a pure gift; for this promise is not personal and peculiar to Moses, but belonged to all the people, to whom God would give the typical rest." John Gill Commentary
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
There are urgent, timely, serious matters for which I plead this day. Thank you for ever living to make intercession and save us to the uttermost from ourselves and this world. Hebrews 7:25. Come, Father Son & Holy Spirit. Answer our prayers, we plead.

The Lord only wanted those who were willing to bring an offering to build the Tabernacle. Only the ones with the skills needed that were willing to do the work, were the ones that did the work. They gave so much that the Lord had to tell Moses to restrain the people from bringing any more offerings.
ReplyDeleteIF we do not give of our goods or ourselves willingly to Him, then to me He really does not want the offering and IF it is given not willingly then it can not be truly blessed. Only what we lay on the altar from a willing heart is acceptable. It is given out of love and gratitude to the One who gave His all for us.It is not love IF it is forced.
Oh, Lord may I be more than willing to lay down my life and my possessions for You. May I not hold on with clenched fists.
We sang a song in church, new to me, but when I googled it, found out was recorded about two years ago. Whom Shall I Fear....by Chris Tomlin. Fell in love with it. IF you have not heard it, talks about God going before you and coming behind you and that you have nothing to fear for you know Who is on your side, fighting for you. Highly recommend you finding it and listening to it. Blessed me greatly.
ReplyDeleteI love this song, Mary Lou. So anointed!
DeleteIt is one of my favorites
