God will create something out of nothing for all of us in 2014.
Humbled by the first verse of the Bible. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1. Void. Empty. Complete Darkness. In the same way, the work of grace in our souls in 2014 will be a new creation. Almighty Grace will work a change in our dark places. Oh! The power of the Word of God---He willed this world into being. He said "Let there be light, (Genesis 1:3) and all at once, there it was. And the same in our lives. Oh! The Power of His Word in 2014 for each of us. May this Light shine and displace our darkness by the power of His Word, by the Mighty grace of God. Light was the very first thing that was wrought. May This Light this year encompass our lives in Love. This day that He has created is for His Honor. May we find Him here and rest in Him tonight. May the Word of God speak into our darkness in 2014 and let there be Light!
PRAYER: Father, You created everything out of nothing. May we trust You this 2014 to create beauty out of our broken lives. Make us so aware of what stirs within us, driving us to dependence on You rather than determination to make this life work.

ReplyDeleteGod will speak Light into our Darkness this 2014. Join us in reading through the Bible chronologically online using Bible Gateway. Also, on Sundays, I will post suggested readings from Genesis to Revelation written about prayer from some of the greatest writers we know: R.C. Sproul, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Oswald Chambers, and the list goes on. On Mondays, Annette will post about those readings from "Come Boldly." You'll love it. Come read with us. About 3 chapters per day. Leave a comment if you'd like to join us. Bev
In the beginning God created...In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
ReplyDeleteI read today’s readings by flashlight. (Our power went out around 7:30 a.m.) New Year, back to the beginning in Genesis, and the verses are filled with life. I am glad to be back with the Pearls.
Happy you are back!
DeleteIt's encouraging to know this beginning is our beginning. The God Who is the same yesterday, today, and forever is still on the Throne, and His Word is hovering, hovering over each of us.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of funny when Adam and Eve try to hide from God in Chapter 3. Shame can keep us from God. Sin of any kind blocks our relationship with the One Who knows us completely and greets us every single time we approach Him with open arms. Our devotional title "Come Boldly" is exactly what we should do, come running back, especially when we have sinned. Restored relationship and Grace await.
I am so looking forward to this brand new, clean slate to start fresh again in 2014! It's so sweet how God orchestrates the community here, and ministers to our needs through this spot each day.
Also ran across this quote on Genesis 1:1 from Robert J Morgan--so good!
Delete“If we have a past, we have a future. If we were created in God’s image, we have eternal
potential. If we have an intelligent Creator who knows and loves us, He must have a
purpose and plan for time and eternity. Without Him we’re dying embers in a dying
universe with no ultimate significance. With Him we have roots in a dignified past and
routes to a great future.”
Oh! What a beautiful quote! I'll keep this one close.
