December 24 "On Our Way Home" I John 1:5

Heaven is my Home.
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.  I John 1:5. This baby born in Bethlehem.  Faithful and Righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness of this moment.  Forever.  A Savior is born. This darkness.  No More.  This Advocate Who has been here from the Beginning.  "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father."  I John 1:2.  Our sin doesn't mean we do not belong to Him.  We are of the dominion who belong to God.  This Son of God has come.  And that changed everything!  "Born that men no more may die."  So, keep yourself from the love of this world and be kept by the power of God.  "For outlandish creatures like us, on our way to a heart, a brain, and courage, Bethlehem is not the end of our journey but only the beginning---not home but the place through which we must pass if ever we are to reach home at last."  We are on our way home.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 115:16 ~ "The earth has been given to man.  Heaven belongs to the Lord."
And our home is not here.  O God, help us to live this Christmas knowing deeply that this journey does not end here on earth.  We will live with you forever.  What will our eternity be like, God?  Will we determine here what our relationship in heaven will be like?  This is our confidence! That you will answer our prayers according to your will.  Give us this day our daily bread.  Help us to long for our real home, not idols and substitutes here.

  1. More and more. I feel like an alien in a foreign land. These times are so full of a darkness and the world pretends like it doesn't even need a Savior to come pull us out of the mess. Arrogance at its apex, personal ambition superseding compassion and care for others, politics trumping patriotism, this world is not the paradise that God intended.

With darkness comes blindness. Blindness to sin. Blindness to need. Blindness to the Better Way. It's still so dark for many.

But God is Light. In Him there is no darkness at all. Walk in Light, fellow pilgrim. Walk in the Light that He provides for the next step.

Light came to dispel the darkness this very season. Jesus was born in a stable to bridge Heaven and Earth. Lighten up your hearts, journeymen. Make room for the Savior of your heart. We are on a journey Home. And He will light each step of the way.

"This is the Promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life."

Welcome To Our World - Chris Tomlin
Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You've been promised, we've been waiting

    Welcome Holy Child
    Welcome Holy Child

Hope that you don't mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
    But long-awaited Holy Stranger
    Make Yourself at home
    Please make Yourself at home
Bring Your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
    Word now breaking Heaven's silence

    Welcome to our world
    Welcome to our world

Fragile finger sent to heal us
    Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
    Unto us is born
    Unto us is born
So wrap our injured flesh around You
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Rob our sin and make us holy

    Perfect Son of God
    Perfect Son of God
    Welcome to our world

  2. May each one of us make room for Him in the manger of our hearts. May we make room for Him at the inn. He has come! Praise His Holy Name and He is going to take us home one day.
