How can I figure out the problems that face me this day?
How can I live a more fulfilling life?
How can I not throw away my confidence in confusion?
How can I trust when I don't see evidence of your Love?
In 66 Love Letters, Crabb says in the chapter on Hebrews:
You might begin by listening to Martin Luther's advice:
"If you would believe, you must crucify the question, 'How?' "
"You're a natural-born chess player at life.
You want to know how to make your next move
to win blessings or the kind of maturity you want.
"Crucify the how question.
Stop trying to figure out what you can do to develop
stronger faith, brighter hope, richer love."
"He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them." Your God is praying for you. He hears your cries. Whatever uttermost you are in. He is there. Crucify the "how."
The last time I quoted this quote by Martin Luther, I lost a friend.
Our God knows what is going on inside of each one of us.
The evil within that we must deal is far worse than most make of it.
The God Within is far greater than any sin.
He saves to the uttermost!
"... a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God."
ReplyDelete"You are a priest forever."
"Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant."
Still on the coattail of the theme of the last couple of days and basking in the peace of this promise. Basking in the joy, too, that we can know that, (as you put it so well, Bev) the God within is far greater than any sin, saving to the uttermost." What a word of completion, of absoluteness, of pure hope!
Love this Luther quote "He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."
Can't imagine a friend not LONGING to hear those words, Bev. It is the promise to which my soul banks its dying breath.
On another note, I'm going to give blood today (which I haven't done in quite a few years due to some travel that prohibited me from giving) If you are able, consider donating. I tweeted other ways you might want to help. One is to donate to World Vision whose headquarters is in NYC.
The Salvation Army: You can donate $10 to the Salvation Army by texting “STORM” to 80888. If you are already volunteer-certified, you can sign up to help out with disaster relief.
World Vision: Despite flooding at its Bronx, N.Y. warehouse, World Vision is organizing relief efforts. You can text “GIVEUSA” to 777444 to make a $10 donation, or donate online to help.
